Peace be upon you!
My name is Said Mirza and I am married and living in USA. I have been a Qur'an alone follower for the past 6 years.
I was born and raised in a Sunni household in Karachi, Pakistan. I did not really think much about the Islam I learned from the elder and just did the five daily prayers more or less till I turned 19.
At 19, I enrolled in a university in the U.S. and stopped practicing Islam. When I graduated from college, while working, I had an existential crisis and really started questioning the point of life. I started looking into my own religion for answers. Having read a lot of hadiths, God guided me towards the Qur'an. I came across an article about the Kaaba being a stone idol and I realized that it, indeed, was a stone idol. After that, I really looked into the Qur'an and realized that the Qur'an is condemning the Muslims! I tried to tell my relatives but they all thought I was nuts. I then decided to stop worrying about this stuff and got on with my life.
I got married and had kids. Life was good but I still had a nagging doubt about the futility of life. God, in His mercy, guided me again and I came across Sam Gerrans' videos and his translation of the Qur'an. He answered a lot of questions I had regarding salaat, zakaat, Hajj etc. and I realized that the religion of Islam was made up and was skillfully attached to the Qur'an!
I then decided to dedicate myself to serving God alone and studying the Qur'an very carefully and diligently. I have worked with Sam for a number of years and built the Reader website to help students of the Qur'an in their journey as well. Apart from that, I have written four books on various subjects which I think are a good on-ramp for someone new to the Qur'an. I also have a Youtube channel where I post regularly.
I have create this forum as a place where believers in God and the Last Day can come together. As God says in the Qur'an:
Thus, we congregate here as brethren to help and assist each other in good deeds.
Let us begin then, in the name of God.

And hold fast to the rope of God all together, and be not divided. And remember the favour of God upon you: when you were enemies, He united your hearts so that by His favour you became brethren; and you were upon the edge of a pit of fire, and He rescued you from it. Thus does God make plain to you His proofs, that you might be guided.
(3:103)
Thus, we congregate here as brethren to help and assist each other in good deeds.
Let us begin then, in the name of God.
