Overcoming Addictions

Peace,

I wanted to share these two method which I found worked for me when I was trying to quit my many addictions. The first is by Allen Carr; he did not get the main-stream acceptance which tells you that his method works!

The other more powerful method by Jack Trimpey is even more obscure but it aligns very close to the Qur'an's teachings. He uses the word "beast" for your inner addiction voice but (really) what he is talking about is the satan. He explains that the "beast" has no power over us, he simply calls and we listen and act on his suggestion freely. Thus, quitting addiction is all about realizing that we have free will and exercising our God-given power over the satan.

Jack Trimpey also rails against the current model of the disease of addiction which keeps people feeling powerless and is never intended to get people to quit their addictions. (He talks about how Alcoholics Anonymous is government sponsored and funded, the same government that is funded by the owners of distilleries etc.).

And the satan will say when the matter is concluded: “God promised you the promise of truth; and I promised you, but I betrayed you. And I had not over you any authority except to call you — and you responded to me; so blame not me, but blame yourselves. I cannot aid you, and you cannot aid me. I deny your ascribing to me a partnership before; the wrongdoers: for them is a painful punishment.”

Thank you for sharing man, there's some real jewels there. Only in the last couple of days I realised that a bad habbit of mine that I thought was helping me in a variety of ways has been actually doing precisely the opposite. I need to explore where else in my life this has been taking place.

Peace Said. I disagree about AA - it isn't government sponsored. It's based on spiritual principles, all of which are found in the Quran. I can send you some further information if you are interested. I'd urge you to reconsider this view. @saidmirza

I can attest to what Chris said about AA. My journey to God initially started with AA. It is not funded in any way by outside money. Members donate money at the group level all the way up to the main centre or headquarters. It is run by recovered alcoholics except for people who do other duties in the areas of communication and resource material. Mr. Trimbly and I checked it out has exited the recovery program he started. But I can tell you that AA started over 85 years ago and still exists to this day. While yes there are those who were not able to find recovery in AA there have been thousands over the decades who found sobriety and continue to do so. I
Would suggest to go to their website www.aa.org to research further. Read the 12 Traditions of AA.
It will give you a clearer view. Peace to you
