Peace be upon you,
I am a 22 year old man from Bosnia. I was born and raised in a culturally sunni muslim environment. If you know anything about this country, you'll know that it's a mixed bowl of religions and has a recent socialist/atheist past that created a mass of people with a huge identity crisis. My parents never really practiced the religion but claim to believe in God. I always considered myself a "free-thinker" who wanted to explore various worldviews.
I struggled with religion since my teens and have yet to come to a decisive and satisfactory truth. I tried to embrace sunni islam time and time again but I could never wrap my head around the bizzare and foreign customs, the hipocrisy of the people around me, the Arab-centric understanding of the Quran, etc. How come a "muslim nation in Europe" favours Western empires who were their historic colonizers and who introduced usury, liberalism, capitalism to a once majority sunni society? Something always felt wrong to me in the way we live. I never bought the idea of "new Western values" and democracy and naturally searched for answers on the internet. On the other hand, I also never understood why it was these formalities that religious people focused on such as recitation rather than the actual understanding and pondering of the text. The biggest wakeup call was the "pandemic" which really exposed everything I had instincts about: The blatant lies of governments and the complete idiotism of the masses.
I could go on forever on this topic but here is the point: The Quran-alone understanding makes infinitely more sense than any other spiritual belief system I heard of or encountered. It's simple and straight to the point monotheism that does not have micromanagement, foregin mandatory traditions, and corrupt priesthood of other religions. I only recently discovered Said Mirza snd Sam Gerrans and was quickly amazed not just by their view on the Quran, but the entirety of the human experience and geopolitics.
However, this is not a simple path. From what I see, this leads to territory that completely changes everything we think we know about this world. Things like flat Earth and the questioning of the entire history of man are truly overwhelming things to accept immediately without extensive research. I am still exploring this and this is why I've joined this forum. Quranists are the only people who you can actually have honest and constructive conversations nowadays so it seems. I want to learn new things and hopefully come to the truth, God willing.
Thank you Said and Sam for opening up this entire world of ideas to me. I've already learned a lot. A special thanks to you Said for reading my mind. I really was looking for a place to discuss these things, and here we are!
All the best to everyone reading this!
