Yes you are right.

Maybe its due to our short memory or our dual personalities. one hour we think about hell. And the next hour we being materialistic and acting for this short mortal life.

I guess the solution is reading quran and upholding the remembrance on the parts of day and at night. A constant reminder to our evil-advising self
